Information:

Charles Louis Rowe Petrie served with the Manchester Regiment between 1887 and 1907. He was attached to the Uganda Rifles and awarded the Distinguised Service Order during the expedition into the Lango country in 1902. He later served in Somaliland and retired in 1907.In 1914 he returned to service and and was involved in forming the Manchester Pals battalions. He led the 16th Battalion at the start of the Somme offensive. He later commanded the 1st Garrison Battalion of the South Staffordshire Regiment in India.He died in October 1922.
